The Hammam is an ancient Turkish traditional method of bathing, using special techniques in the warmth of the Hammam Room to cleanse and exfoliate impurities from the body. This includes an all over scrub by our Tellak (therapist) with a kese mitt, followed by light foam massage. Our Hammam Room has 13 marble basins (kurna) each with an individual gold bowl (tas) to douse yourself with water, and a large heated marble platform (gobek tasi).
What is a Hammam/Turkish Bath experience?
Hammams are bathhouses primarily found in Turkey and Morocco. Hammams are modelled on ancient roman baths, with domed ceilings, regal columns, and a marble interior. After showering, our guests are encouraged to use our wide variety or facilities, Ice Room, Steam, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Cold Bucket and Pool. Prior to the hammam treatment, guests our guests are encouraged to use sauna/steam for 10-15 minutes to relax the body, open the pores and soften the muscles. After laying face up on our heated marble platform, the therapist will scrub the front of the body, followed by the back of the body with an exfoliating Kese mitt. The body is then doused with water. The treatment ends with a light foam massage.
